EPF withdrawal: Your PF account is no more linked to one EPFO office

  • EPF withdrawal claims will now be processed faster than before
  • EPFO office in India can process withdrawal or transfer claims irrespective of its geographical jurisdiction.

New Delhi: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has not only launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool for auto processing of claims, but has also deleted the accounts of regional offices.

Until now, your provident fund account was linked to the nearest local or regional office and all claims were processed only through the particular office that falls under its geographic jurisdiction. So if a regional office was more than working, the claims of EPF customers of that office would have been delayed.

But now EPFO has introduced multi-location claim settlement facility, under which any regional office across India can settle all types of online claims related to provident funds, pensions, partial withdrawals and transfers.

EPFO said that the new initiative is a step towards larger objectives of waste processing of claims which will enhance transparency, efficiency, reduction of complaints and speedy settlement of online claims in line with Digital India.

This is the second step taken by the retirement fund body to speed up the processing of claims. EPFO recently started using a new AI tool that automatically processes all Covid claims in just 3 days if the EPF account is fully KYC compliant.

During the lockdown so far, EPFO stated that it has settled more than 80,000 claims with an average daily payment of ₹ 270 crore. EPFO recently introduced a new Covid epidemic withdrawal facility under which customers can withdraw basic salary and DA (dearness allowance) limit for three months or 75% of the amount standing to the credit of the member in EPF account Till, whichever is less.
